🥳 Appears Aussies are getting more confident?! Is the trend our friend?
🟩 Target line = above green line ("100+")
🟧 We're now = peach line (around "92")
↘️ Aussies have felt a sustained period of negative sentiment - we can see it's been 6-7 years since spending meaningful time above "100".
It's still negative, but not quite 'as negative' as most recent years.
Q: "What is Consumer Sentiment?"
A: The RBA Consumer Sentiment is a graph of the Westpac-Melbourne Institute index, that tracks Australian households' optimism about their financial situation. The chart is based on a monthly survey that asks five key questions. An index score above 100 indicates more optimists than pessimist. The average since 1980 is 100.
